Brass fittings are connectors machined from free-cutting brass that join tube, pipe and hose without welding or soldering. Vikay Fittings supplies four families: compression, tube (push-in PU), flare and valve/cock fittings, in metric, BSP and NPT sizes for pneumatic, LPG, refrigeration, instrumentation and plumbing service.

Vikay Fittings machines brass fittings at its works in India and has exported them since 2000 under an ISO 9001:2015 quality system. The brass range runs to more than 900 catalogued part numbers across four families. Compression fittings seal on an olive (ferrule) squeezed onto the tube, so a joint can be made and remade with hand tools and no flame. Tube fittings are push-in PU assemblies for pneumatic and instrument air lines. Flare fittings use the SAE 45-degree cone for refrigeration, gas and hydraulic duty. Valves and cock fittings cover gas, needle, non-return and compressor service.

Bodies are turned from free-cutting brass to BS 2874 CZ121 / ASTM B16 C36000, with threads cut to ISO 228 (BSP parallel), ISO 7/1 (BSP taper) or ASME B1.20.1 (NPT) as the part calls for. Tube sizes are stocked in both metric (4-22 mm) and fractional (1/8-3/4 in) series, and thread sizes from 1/8 in to 1 in. Every part number carries a dimensioned datasheet.

What is the difference between brass compression, flare and tube fittings?

A compression fitting seals by squeezing a brass olive onto plain-cut tube, so no tube preparation is needed beyond a square cut. A flare fitting needs the tube end flared to a 45-degree cone and seals metal-to-metal, which suits refrigerant and gas lines. A tube (push-in PU) fitting grips flexible polyurethane or nylon tube with a collet and releases by pressing the collar, which suits pneumatic circuits that are rebuilt often.

What brass grade does Vikay use?

Bodies are turned from free-cutting brass equivalent to BS 2874 CZ121 and ASTM B16 C36000 (around 58-59% copper, 2-3% lead, balance zinc). This is the standard dezincification-resistant-adjacent grade used for machined fittings; nuts, olives and sleeves are cut from the same or a closely matched grade so the joint work-hardens evenly.

Which thread forms can I order?

BSP parallel (BSPP, ISO 228), BSP taper (BSPT, ISO 7/1), NPT (ASME B1.20.1) and metric parallel are all catalogued. Because thread form drives fitment more than anything else, state it on your enquiry. A BSPP male will not seal in an NPT female port even where the nominal size matches.

What pressure and temperature will brass fittings take?

Working pressure depends on the family, size and tube wall rather than the material alone: small-bore compression and flare joints are commonly rated to around 150-250 bar, push-in PU assemblies to the tube's rating (typically 10-16 bar). Brass is normally used from about -20 degrees C to 120 degrees C. The dimensioned datasheet for each part number carries its rating, so ask us for it before you specify.
